Design

Drawing from the disciplines of permaculture, land art, and ecology, we create landscapes that heal and endure. Our designs go beyond the technical, reflecting and revealing the living systems they represent through comprehensive plans, hand drawings, full-size color prints, computer renderings, and illustrated guides. Each design is a collaborative journey, enriched by aesthetic discussions, in-depth presentations, and tailored ecological insights. Our design process supports your project from concept through realization.

Consultation

Our ecological consultation provides a deeper understanding of a landscape’s natural assets. We assess your site using tools like GIS mapping, soil testing, and on-site evaluations. This allows us to develop management plans and designs that address current challenges—such as erosion, drainage issues, or invasive species—and foster long-term ecological health. Recommendations often involve species inventories, water management solutions, and habitat restoration strategies. We partner with you and the land to restore ecological balance, enhance natural beauty, and create resilient systems that stand the test of time.

Installation

Our installation process blends craftsmanship with ecological support. We prioritize sustainable techniques, using low-disturbance, hand-built methods when possible to protect soils, existing tree roots, and the integrity of your site as we work. We only use regional ecotype native plants sourced through local growers—ensuring that plantings are truly adapted to climate and wildlife. Avoiding harmful pesticides, we rely on careful site prep, thoughtful mulch application, and sustainable construction methods that support establishment. Whether installing native plant communities, replacing non-native lawns with ecological alternatives, grading for stormwater management, or building custom dry stone features like walls, patios, and pathways, we approach every detail with intention and care.

Maintenance

After installation, the quieter work of monitoring, adaptive management, and ongoing stewardship often determines whether plantings truly thrive. Because native plant communities are adapted to local climate and soils, they often require less support as they become more established. Our approach to ecological maintenance is practical and adaptive, with targeted interventions that keep systems healthy, beautiful, and functioning as intended. We focus on the right work at the right moment—management of water, weed pressure, pruning, and organic material as the site matures.
